Kính Gởi : Đồng bào, đồng hương và Phật tử,

Các cơ quan truyền thông cho biết đồng bào tại New Orleans và Mississippi bị thiên tai khủng khiếp vì bão lụt tàn phà nhà cửa, cơ sở thương mãi, đường, cầu cống, hoa màu và nhiều người bị thiệt mạng. Nạn nhân thiếu thức ăn, nước uống và nơi trú ngụ tạm thời vì nhà bị hư hoặc còn bị chìm sâu dưới nước. Đây là một trong những cơn thiên tai kinh khủng nhất trong lịch sử Hoa Kỳ.

Chúng tôi khẩn thiết kêu gọi quý vị tích cực cứu trợ để làm vơi bớt phần nào nỗi khổ của đồng bào.

Các khoản đóng góp đều được trừ thuế. Ngân phiếu xin đề :

II. Thư cứu trợ của Nhóm Từ thiện ICANN

Dear friends,

Hurricane Katrina had caused widespread destruction in the Gulf Coast region, especially Louisiana and Mississipi, with hundreds of thousands of people being displaced and having to evacuate to nearby areas. Hundreds of people have lost their lives; thousands of people will not be able to return to their homes for many days to come.

Many of us came to America as refugees. We all know what it feels like to be uprooted from your normal life. Here is a chance for us to show our gratitude to the land and the people who helped us in our greatest times of need. We will also be helping thousands of Vietnamese families who live in Louisiana and have suffered loss of life and properties during the past weeks.

Please join us in our efforts to help victims of Hurricane Katrina. You can send donations to your charity of choice, or to ICAN. We will forward 100% of your donations to agencies serving hurricane victims. Please also check with your company for any available corporate matching fund. (ICAN is a 501(c)3 organization and all contributions to ICAN are tax-deductible).

ICAN is also reaching out to other Vietnamese American organizations in the Bay area to plan more concerted fundraising events, and will keep you all informed of our progress.

We urge you to work together with other Vietnamese American organizations in your local areas so that we can, together as the Vietnamese American community, express our care and support for our American fellow countrymen.
